The Spiers

An intimate backyard ceremony, a red carpet welcome (but better) and some windy business!

Yep, it was one of THOSE Covid weddings.

5 person max; bride, groom, minister, myself and a videographer (the two witnesses!). I didn’t take this lightly - the responsibility of taking the best photos I could so they could show their family, friends (and maybe kids?) one day in the near or distant future. I definitely felt very honoured to be a part of such an intimate day.

Vows were made and documents signed and then one of the coolest things ever seen happened as they walked back down the aisle (April’s family driveway) together. The whole street were standing out the front of each their houses (yes, appropriately distanced) in their finest wedding formal gear and even with some of the youngens’ playing some jubilant tunes! Pat and April got to walk on their very own autumnal red carpet to much applause! SO. DANG. COOL.

We went for a quick jaunt to the shops so April’s dad could still ‘walk her down the aisle’ in the aisle of the local supermarket. Super fun, incredibly ‘punny’, love it. Anyone that knows me knows i can’t resist a good (read: not that funny) pun.

With time to kill we went for a drive into Ku-ring-gai National Park! We had fun in the sun and did the best we could with the wind. I did have to rescue Aprils grandmothers veil from flying away at one point; totally worth it!

Shout out to Jonny, our videographer for the day, as he fully slammed his finger in the car door on the way out (pretty sure it was a proper fracture) and didn’t complain lugging his hectic camera down the bush track. Legend.

Last but not least, a llama wedding cake. I need not say any more.
