The Mosses

A drone shot but NOT a drone shot, page boy invents “dirt angel” (trademark pending, see; snow angel, for context) and some of the best scenery rural NSW has to offer.

“Trust the professional.”

When speaking with Emily & Brendan about how their day was going to run, they made a very specific request of me; the first photos Emily wanted to see of her wedding day were the ones taken by the professional.

Lots of people try to have “unplugged” ceremonies, but in my experience, it rarely happens, There’s always a few people that are apparently exempt to the rule…. but this wasn’t just a request of an unplugged ceremony, but a full DNP (do not publish) order to all of their family, bridal party and guests to not post anything to social media or to even show them, until she had an image from us first.

Why? Well Emily is a paramedic, and a motto in her line of work is to ‘trust the professional’. If you were dying and a paramedic turned up, I know I’d want help from them over the first person on the scene who reckons they can do the job just as well but with no experience. The same applied to Emily’s wedding photos.

Whilst excited for this, I equally felt an obligation to respect her wishes and provide them with something well worth the wait. After a mountain of photos, including a cheeky sunset jaunt; I quickly downloaded a bunch of the images onto my laptop and picked a few to do a proper edit on. Once exported I texted them straight to Emily & Brendan’s phones, and then stupidly wiggled my eyebrows at them across the room until they noticed and quickly checked their devices.

They were stoked (as were the guests with their embargoed images now free to flood the land of Facebook), but then something kind of unexpected happened. Emily proceeded to one by one take the photos around to the tables and show these images to her family and friends… Honestly, I felt so honoured by this, and to this day am so thankful that they found it so important to not only trust me in this way but also placed such a high value on what I do.
