The Van-Bruinessens

Planes, lots of planes, a superman shirt pull (but barber shop quartet), VW panel vans and a burger truck.

Two weeks out from their wedding, Ellen and Matt didn’t know if they were going to have a reception venue, and there was no plan B. Mayday, mayday people!

Why? Because they were having their reception in a legit airport hanger in an actual airport. When you have your reception in a hanger, you need permission from the Australian Government and then extra permission for all of your vendors, and then a licence to have alcohol on the premises. WILD.

But I‘m telling you… this reception went off like a frog in a sock! (do people still say that?!) Epic jets and planes inside the hanger as well as some gorgeous lighting around the dance floor. These guys even got a burger truck for their reception before it was cool, and they specifically requested some messy burger eating photos. I was MORE than happy to oblige! Ellen and Matt definitely don’t recommend having your reception somewhere where you have to get government permission because of the epic headache, but they definitely pulled it off with style!

As a little nod to their engagement; Matt proposed at Disneyland with a genuine barber shop quartet! So as a fun nod to the special day that preceded the wedding day, each of the groomsmen had ties and cheeky undershirts that matched the colour of that barbershop quartet! Super cool!

Of course the hero shot I HAD to get was a shot of them with THE red baron plane in the RED BARON hanger. This is quintessentially what I aim to do at every wedding. Epic pictures are epic, but when they mean something more, that makes me truly excited to create a meaningful memory.

Ellen and Matt, you’re both legends, and this goes down in history as one of the coolest and most fun weddings I’ve even photographed.
